Are you a student interested in gaining hands-on procedural practice? The Student Procedures Workshop provides training and practice in basic procedural techniques that are often performed in family physician offices. Come to the workshop and meet other students, residents and attendings!
POINT OF CARE ULTRASOUND (45 min)
POCUS is increasingly becoming an extension of the physical exam.
• Understand the basics of ultrasound
• Identify organs (i.e. heart, liver, and kidneys)
• Learn how to explain the procedure to patients
SUTURING (45 min)
Suturing is an important skill for any physician.
• Prepare a sterile field and gather instruments
• Practice proper surgical techniques and suturing types
• Learn how to explain the procedure to patients
PAP (45 min)
Family physicians must be trained to care for a variety of women’s health needs.
• Practice using a speculum and placing the cervix in position
• Identify proper instruments and techniques for sample collection
• Learn how to explain the procedure to patients
