Student Procedures Workshop at POP!

Are you a student interested in gaining hands-on procedural practice? The Student Procedures Workshop provides training and practice in basic procedural techniques that are often performed in family physician offices. Come to the workshop and meet other students, residents and attendings!

POCUS is increasingly becoming an extension of the physical exam.
• Understand the basics of ultrasound
• Identify organs (i.e. heart, liver, and kidneys)
• Learn how to explain the procedure to patients

SUTURING (45 min)
Suturing is an important skill for any physician.
• Prepare a sterile field and gather instruments
• Practice proper surgical techniques and suturing types
• Learn how to explain the procedure to patients

PAP (45 min)
Family physicians must be trained to care for a variety of women’s health needs.
• Practice using a speculum and placing the cervix in position
• Identify proper instruments and techniques for sample collection
• Learn how to explain the procedure to patients

How to Register: the Procedures Workshop coincides with the FM POP! Conference. We hope you are able to attend the entire event and participate in all the student-resident programming. However, if you just want to attend the workshop, select "Optional Programs" within the POP! registration page.
