Residents Share Tips About What They Wished They’d Learned Sooner

Let’s be real - applying to residency is a ball of nerves. But it doesn’t have to be that way! We asked family medicine residents what they wished they knew or considered when they were in the process of applying to programs.

Here’s what they said:

  1. Access the resources available to you.

Karen Antwiler, PGY2 - Eisenhower Health Family Medicine Residency,
    International Medical Student

  2. It’s okay to not know what you want  - use the interview process as a learning opportunity.

Rosemary Cotter, PGY3 - UC Davis Family and Community Medicine Residency

  3. Intern year is hard - take care of yourself!

Christina Spandler, PGY2 - UC Davis Family and Community Medicine Residency

  4. Trust the process and focus on your strengths

    Yoon-kyu Sung, PGY2 - Stanford-O'Connor Hospital Family Medicine Residency
