This new PCFA task force was established by the CAFP Board of Directors in April 2024 to recommend an organizational position on payment and system models to expand and simplify access to primary care and increase investment in primary care in California. The PCFA Task Force is charged with reviewing current CAFP policy and developing new policy related to health system and health insurance reform, including but not limited to unified health system financing models. The PCFA will develop policy recommendations which include policy, financing and political considerations, as well as CAFP member perspectives. The PCFA recommendation will be considered by the Board and reported at the All Member Advocacy Meeting.
The CAFP Board appointed Drs. Kevin Grumbach and Anthony Chong to co-chair this important effort. The PCFA will consist of 9 to 11 members and will be a committee that is diverse in gender, ethnicity, geography, practice type, and opinion. The Taskforce should include members with expertise in health system financing, practice management, physician group financing and health policy.
Specifically, we are looking for CAFP members who represent the following:
The Chairpeople of the CAFP Medical Practice Affairs Committee, Legislative Affairs Committee and Committee on Public Health and Equity will be offered a PCFA task force position.
