We are deeply disappointed that @CAGovernor has vetoed #AB2250, a crucial bill aimed at addressing social determinants of health (SDOH) that impact millions of Californians. This bill would have been a major step toward improving health equity by providing coverage for SDOH screenings and ensuring patients had access to community health workers, peer support specialists, and lay health workers to help address critical social needs like housing, food, and transportation—factors just as vital to health as medical care.
Thank you to Assemblymember @AsmakilahWeber for authoring the bill and to our co-sponsors @CPCAAdvocates, @YourCBHN, and @BlackLeadershipCouncil for your tireless advocacy. While this is a setback, CAFP will continue fighting for policies that tackle health disparities and ensure equitable care for all. #HealthEquity #SDOH #KeepFighting #FamilyMedicine
