CalVaxGrant to Help Community Practices Vaccinate

The California Department of Public Health, in partnership with the Physicians for a Healthy California, will soon launch a new program aimed at supporting small physician practices that want to become COVID-19 vaccination sites. Through CalVaxGrant physician practices can receive grants up to $55,000 to support their efforts. To apply, qualified practices should complete section A of the myCAVax application.

CAFP applauds this program as, for months, we have called on the State and other stakeholders to produce a more equitable and streamlined distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine. Family physicians and other community vaccinators know how to connect with hard-to-reach populations, including the unsheltered, undocumented immigrants, and minority and marginalized communities. CAFP looks forward to promoting this program and continuing to work with the State to increase vaccination rates and to protect the health of all Californians.
