CAFP Education Changing Physician Performance and Improving Patient Care, Earns ACCME Accreditation with Commendation

The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) awarded CAFP with Accreditation with Commendation which is the highest level of recognition granted by ACCME. The recognition places CAFP among the top tier of CME providers nationwide.

"CAFP receiving the highest level of accreditation from ACCME is more than a stamp of approval. It reflects the care and creativity our education team brings to this work every day, and our commitment to education that makes a real difference for family physicians and the patients we serve."~ Dr. Laura Murphy, Chair, Committee on Continuing Professional Development

ACCME’s Accreditation with Commendation requires proof not just that education was delivered, but that it changed physician performance and improved patient care. Research consistently shows that high-quality continuing medical education directly improves physician performance and patient outcomes.

“For CAFP members, this recognition reflects a simple commitment: the education we provide, from a single podcast episode to a multi-year learning collaborative, is designed not merely to gain credit, but to help you care for your patients better.” ~ Lisa Folberg, CAFP CEO

Every organization that offers continuing medical education must be accredited by the ACCME, and reaccredited on a regular cycle. Commendation is the highest tier that recognition can reach.

To earn Commendation status, a continuing medical education provider must first meet all of the ACCME's core accreditation criteria and its standards for integrity and independence. Beyond that foundation, the provider must demonstrate compliance with an additional menu of more stringent criteria, including at least one focused specifically on measurable outcomes.

In recognition of meeting that higher standard, ACCME awarded CAFP a full six-year accreditation term, through November 30, 2031, rather than the standard four years.
