"The California Academy of Family Physicians recognizes that human-caused climate change is not only an environmental issue but a pressing and increasing individual and public health threat. Family physicians witness firsthand the health impacts of extreme heat, poor air quality, wildfires, environmental toxicants exposure, and other climate-related events that disproportionately affect vulnerable populations and frontline communities."
(From the CAFP approved Climate Health Principles, approved by the Board of Directors, Dec 2025.)
"Climate-Informed Patient Care"
As climate change increasingly shapes the health challenges seen in primary care, family physicians are on the front lines of recognizing and responding to its effects. This activity offers practical, patient centered guidance on addressing health risks related to heat, air quality, and infectious diseases, with an emphasis on real world clinical application.
In the CAFP Online Education platform, find the education provided by CAFP with faculty Drs. Alex Sherriffs and Diana Howard.
This activity is supported by the American Board of Family Medicine.
