Updated Deadline: July 27, 2020 2020 - Mentored MAT Learning Experience Scholarships

The Medical Education and Research Foundation for the Treatment of Addiction (MERF) will be providing Mentored Learning Experiences (MLEs) for physicians and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) providers at the California Society of Addiction Medicine (CSAM) 2020 State of the Art in Addiction Medicine Conference, MERF Medication Assisted Treatment Expansion Scholarships (MERF MATES) application are being accepted through July 27, 2020.

Funding for MERF MATES is provided by CA Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) as a component of the SAMHSA State Opioid Response Grant.

The MERF MATES scholarships will include:

•     Free conference registration
•     Free Motivational Interviewing pre-conference workshop registration
•     Participation at the conference in an MLE with addiction medicine specialists, sitting together in virtual facilitate small interactive groups and sharing common MAT questions and approaches to exploring primary care solutions
•     Post-conference mentoring on a monthly or as-needed basis with a CSAM expert in the field of their choice

Scholarship recipients are expected to be present throughout the conference, participate together from September 21st – 25th and during the preconference motivational interviewing workshop the week before (date to be announced), follow up Journal Club (3 evening internet-based journal clubs) over the coming year with an author presenting a relevant MAT paper.

A DEA waiver is not required to apply but is required for providers by August 3rd in order to be accepted.

2020 MERF MATES Scholarship application period will close on July 27, 2020.

The MERF Board of Directors will review submissions and follow-up with all applicants by August 3, 2020.
