Program Highlights and/or Unique Curriculum Components:
Sponsored by Stanford Health Care but based in the community of San Jose, our innovative, academically rigorous community-based program has a strong focus on wellness and support and a shared mission to care for the ethnically and socially diverse population of San Jose since 1977. We offer excellent OB and behavioral science training, a sports medicine fellowship, and enrichment pathways in a nationally recognized Faculty Development track (OSLER), integrative medicine, and POCUS. Our residents practice full-spectrum family medicine in an unopposed county-owned community hospital, benefit from teaching and research opportunities with our academic sponsor, and share in our mission to care for the urban underserved population of San Jose in our Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) residency clinic. Our diverse faculty have interests that span the breadth of Family Medicine, including international health, obstetrics, mental health, procedures, addiction medicine, LGBTQ+ health, palliative care, integrative medicine, pain management, quality improvement, practice management, women’s health, POCUS, academic medicine, HIV/AIDS, advocacy, and sports medicine.
We are very family friendly and welcome all additions to your family with open arms. Many of our current and past residents have found life partners, had children, and otherwise expanded their families during training, and we as a program pride ourselves in supporting these important life milestones.
