Program Highlights and/or Unique Curriculum Components:
We are an FQHC based Teaching Health Center in a community health center. We have a rural and community health based focus and are part of the UC Davis Residency Network of programs. All residents are taught how to manage addiction and all receive their X-waiver to prescribe suboxone and participate in our MAT and Integrated Behavioral Health Clinic. Our program features a pain management/palliative care rotation, rural health rotations, and emphasis on community medicine. Residents rotate on our mobile outreach van called the HOPE van and join outreach teams in the encampments and see patients at the homeless shelters. We have a strong emphasis on behavioral health and work closely with our Psychiatrist where residents work one-on-one seeing complex psychiatric patients. Two of our residents have participated in a primary care psychiatric fellowship. We have several faculty who do OB and residents receive excellent training in OB care. We are a PCMH and teach residents to work in a team-based environment and work closely with other healthcare members of the team. Residents are provided scribes and learn how to manage a scribe/nurse team. We are a smaller program that focuses on individual learning plans with residents. Residents are trained on recognizing and treating child abuse and domestic violence and work closely with behavioral health therapists. Our clinic is the largest Pediatric clinic in the North State and residents work closely with several Pediatricians. Residents have many opportunities for procedures, POCUS and learning Osteopathic Manipulation.
