Program Highlights and/or Unique Curriculum Components:
Our mission statement sums it well: Through a lens of cultural humility and social justice, we train a diverse group of residents to become full-spectrum family physicians and leaders who serve the historically marginalized communities of the South San Diego Border region by increasing access to quality healthcare and advocating for health equity.
Faculty Composition
Of our 12 Family Physicians practicing hospital obstetrics, 10 are graduates of our program. Of the inpatient hospital FM attendings, 8 out of 11 are graduates of our program. Even after graduation, we enjoy working together in the local clinics and in the hospital. Our core and clinical Family Medicine faculty have the skills and experience to provide training for our residents to practice full spectrum care including inpatient, OB, geriatric nursing home care, and outpatient procedures including women's health procedures, medication assisted treatment, and point of care ultrasound.
Spouse/Family Opportunities
Spouses and family, welcome aboard! Whenever possible, we include family in residency activities - dinners, gatherings, holidays, and retreats. Children and fur-babies are also welcome.
