Program Highlights and/or Unique Curriculum Components:
Our residency program is community-based, affiliated with the University of California at Davis, and is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). The program has a 40-plus-year history of providing excellent health care and outstanding clinical education in all aspects of Family Medicine in California's central valley.
Our hospital has been training residents in the field of family medicine since 1972, at the inception of the specialty. Modern additions to the hospital have made it a contemporary state of the art facility.
Our vision is to be a Family Medicine residency of choice with cutting edge and innovative educational and leadership training for the Family Medicine physician, that is coupled with the highest quality patient-centered care provided to the underserved communities of San Joaquin County.
Faculty Composition:
There are four core faculty dedicated to the curriculum and administration of the program; eight additional primary care faculty that provide clinical instruction and supervision as well as hundreds of specialty support preceptors to enrich the residents’ learning experience.
Spouse/Family Opportunities:
Whittier is nicely located between LA County and Orange County, within easy driving distance from beaches, desert, and mountains with skiing in the winter. Quiet and safe with good school districts, Whittier’s nice location opens up for spousal job opportunities in both counties with a reasonable commute.
