Program Highlights and/or Unique Curriculum Components:

The Family Medicine Residency Training Program at Kaiser Permanente, Los Angeles Medical Center was accredited in 1972, (the first in Southern California). Based in a managed care system that sponsors five other FP Residency Programs, the program has full-time family physician academic faculty who are veteran clinician/teachers.

At our residency program, you will encounter a quality educational environment that includes direct patient responsibility and a large and varied patient base. You will also benefit from the supervision of our outstanding board-certified Family Medicine physician faculty.

Los Angeles Medical Center is a community hospital with academic feel. We have won national recognition for the quality of our research in clinical family practice, health screening, and education. In addition, we are nationally recognized for the quality of our graduate and undergraduate medical education.

Faculty Composition:
The faculty are very diverse! Approximately 1/3 of our faculty identify as an underrepresented minority. 50% of our faculty members identify as female. Our faculty represent undergraduate and medical schools from across the country. Additionally, most of our faculty members practice within a niche in some aspect of Family Medicine including but not limited to Sports Medicine, Women’s Health, Obstetrics, Geriatrics, Ultrasound, Procedures, Inpatient Medicine. All faculty are board certified with the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM).

Spouse/Family Opportunities:

Our Family Medicine residency program is very family friendly. The majority of our residents identify as having a significant other/partner. Residents who become parents during residency are offered extended time of leave.
