Program Highlights and/or Unique Curriculum Components:
An “unopposed” (stand-alone) Family Medicine Residency Program for 6 residents per year totaling 18 residents over three years. This program is focused on full scope rural family medicine in which residents will become dept at managing complex patients with interesting pathology, oftentimes without the assistance of specialists.
Residents will receive excellent hands-on training with robust Procedure and Point-of-Care Ultrasound curriculum. There will also be an emphasis on Behavioral and Population Health and care for the underserved as residents will work closely with our Adventist Health Ukiah Valley Street Medicine team. Our goal is to train Family Medicine physicians who are well prepared to practice rurally and provide care to patients in any care setting. To give resident physicians a strong urban and academic experience that complements their rural experience, 4 months of inpatient training will be held at University of California Davis and the Sacramento VA. This training will focus on Adult/Pediatric Inpatient Medicine. Housing will be provided during these rotations.
