Covid-19 Cases Rise as New Variant Emerges

New Covid-19 cases of the BA.2 subvariant continues to grow. BA.2 caused about 35% of cases in the US last week, up from 22% the week before, according to new estimates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  Though BA.2 is more contagious, it does not appear to cause more severe disease.
