CAFP is honored to be awarded the 2021 AAFP Leadership in State Government Advocacy Award. AAFP recognized CAFP’s efforts to advance alternative payment models to support primary care, especially those primary care practices particularly affected by the pandemic. CAFP has worked with legislators and a wide coalition of stakeholders to introduce legislation to establish multi-payer payment reform pilots in areas hit hardest by COVID-19. The bill passed the Senate Health Committee unanimously, and while it failed to advance further, CAFP made progress in educating policy makers about family medicine, payment reform and advanced primary care.
