Advancing Behavioral Health Equity in Primary Care

The Center for Care Innovations (CCI) is hosting an informational webinar on Advancing Behavioral Health Equity in Primary Care August 4, at 12pm.

Only 33 percent of people with any type of mental illness receive treatment – a number that rises significantly when the patient is LGBTQ or a person of color. To address this, the California Health Care Foundation is launching a learning collaborative that will use an evidence-based integration model, emphasize patient-centered access, and test new approaches for reducing health inequities through advancing behavioral health equity in primary care. By the end of the program, participants will be able to:

  • Identify, manage, and treat mental health conditions and substance use disorders.
  • Identify and address patients’ unmet social needs through consistent screening, tracking, and robust referral processes.
  • Stratify their data to identify and understand where inequities are greatest.
  • Take effective action to reduce barriers to care — specifically, racism, discrimination, stigma, and trauma — by actively embracing health equity practices.
  • Sustain and spread their successes.

Participants will receive grants between $75,000 and $125,000, comprehensive technical assistance, monthly coaching with experts, site visits to exemplar organizations, an online learning community, peer-sharing sessions, and more.

Applications are due August 17, 2021 at 5pm.
