Why Contribute to FP-PAC?
At times, watching the news at night or reading the paper in the morning can be overwhelming and feel like you have little control over how the country, or even the state, is being run. Decisions are taking place everyday that affect aspects of your life even as personal as your child's education, the freeway you use everyday, and the ways you are allowed to practice medicine. Don't let this overwhelming feeling stop you from taking action to make a difference in the way those decisions are made. Health care reform proposals are being debated as you read this. There are bills being heard in Sacramento right now that involve attacks on MICRA, expansion of scope of practice, and increased Medi-Cal rates of reimbursement. The voice of family medicine needs to be heard on these issues! FP-PAC is the ONLY political organization whose sole mission is to promote family physicians and family medicine. We are the voice of family medicine in California, and we need your support.
What Does FP-PAC Do?
FP-PAC makes direct contributions to pro-family medicine candidates seeking election to the California state legislature or select statewide office. But FP-PAC activities involve more than just making political contributions to candidates. We strive to educate physicians about the political process to help them become effective players in the political arena. FP-PAC provides interested members advice on organizing local fundraising events for legislative candidates and holding meetings with legislators to discuss issues important to family physicians. We provide FPs with the necessary tools to positively affect public policy decisions.
