Empowering, Transformative, Reassuring, Proud, Progressive, Refreshing, Energizing, Enlightening ... The 2016 Forum wrapped up and these are just some of the words from the more than 325 attendees at the 2016 Family Medicine Clinical Forum. The conference was a huge success, breaking attendance records and offering attendees a choice of more than 28 CME sessions, two keynote speakers, Table Talks on issues like value-based payment reform, mentoring and new physician support, the launch of our End-of-Life Conversations project and podcast series, three SAMs sessions and a Buprenorphene workshop.
In addition, CAFP's new officers were installed by AAFP Board Chair Robert Wergin, MD. Lee Ralph, MD, CAFP's newly sworn-in President gave remarks and recognized EVP Susan Hogeland for her 25 years at the helm of the Academy. Outgoing President Jay Lee, MD, MPH received a standing ovation for his incredible year.
CAFP and CAFP Foundation Awards were presented to: Alex Mroszczyk-McDonald, 2016 Resident of the Year (who missed the event, but finished the Boston Marathon yesterday in 2:52!), Gilberto Granados, MD, 2016 Educator of the Year, and Jeffrey Luther, MD, 2016 Family Physician of the Year.
Finally, attendees enjoyed an all member reception, the Foundation Auction raising more than $6,000 to support medical student activities, and mingled a large exhibit program.
