Empowering ... Transformative ... Reassuring ... Energizing ... Enlightening

Your Committee on Continuing Professional Development is completing its preliminary work on the 2017 Family Medicine Clinical Forum and is thrilled to share with you a few highlights of the meeting scheduled for April 8-9, 2017 at the San Francisco Hilton Union Square Hotel:

This Just In!  Wanda Filer, MD, Chair, AAFP Board of Directors, will be in our house!  Dr. Filer has just completed a successful year as AAFP President, representing family physicians and their patients in Washington DC, state houses, on TV, radio, online and print media, in meetings with payors and policy makers!  She has been an incredible voice for the #FMRevolution.  Dr. Filer will swear in the new CAFP officers, confer Fellowship on AAFP fellows, give remarks for the AAFP and if we are very lucky, present a session on ACE Scores!

Our Opening Keynote Speaker is Rishi Manchanda, MD, MPH, physician, writer and upstreamist.  Rishi Manchanda is Chief Medical Officer of The Wonderful Company, a privately held $4 billion company committed to offering consumers high-quality, healthy brands. Rishi is also president of HealthBegins, an organization that provides health care providers with upstream quality improvement tools to improve care and the social determinants of health. He'll open the meeting talking about Upstreaming in Health Care.  Want a peek?

We are also pleased to announce that Don Abrams, MD, cancer and integrative medicine specialist at UCSF will join us. Dr. Abrams provides integrative medicine consultations for cancer patients and has completed research in complementary and alternative therapies including mind-body treatments, botanical therapies, medical use of marijuana and traditional Chinese medicine herbal therapies.  He'll speak about the latest issues in medical marijuana.

We have a great slate of both "head" and "heart" sessions, including topics of adolescent health, primary care hotspots, ACE scores, nutrition (in light of the new sugar research), polypharmacy in seniors and more.  The complete schedule is available by clicking on the link below!
