The San Diego Academy of Family Physicians will hold its 60th Annual Symposium June 23-25, 2017, at the Paradise Point Hotel in Mission Bay. This live activity has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 25.25 Prescribed Credits by the American Academy of Family Physicians. Several topics will provide updates on a wide range of patient treatment issues commonly encountered by Family Physicians on a daily basis.

Hands-on Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) Insertion Training (3 hours)
This course provides practical strategies, proven tips and case studies for increasing patient satisfaction with and usage of LARC methods. Included will be strategies for removing barriers to LARC access and effective age-appropriate contraceptive counseling techniques although the focus will be on providing a hands-on insertion technique practicum for clinicians with plenty of practice and coaching available. Supported by Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health.


Curing Hepatitis C: Now is the Time
Learners will increase knowledge and competence with respect to practical strategies for incorporating hepatitis C virus (HCV) screening, treating and management into practice.


T2DM: Maximizing Patient Encounters
This case-based presentation will address key barriers to improving outcomes for your T2DM patients. New 2017 ADA guidelines will be reviewed and learners will leave with evidence-based strategies to initiate insulin, improve patient self-care and address common misperceptions and barriers to change.
