 Understanding Neuropathic Pain

Understanding Neuropathic Pain
This downloadable article discusses the variability of neuropathic pain symptoms and implement appropriate screening for accurate and early diagnosis. Chronic neuropathic pain, the result of disordered or abnormal central nervous system function, is quite common in clinical practice. It remains underrecognized and underdiagnosed. Authors Kate Galluzzi, DO and Charles Argoff, MD help identify available treatment options for neuropathic pain and evaluate their appropriateness for your patient in order to improve outcomes.

Approved for 1 AMA PRA Category 1 TM.

 Treating Musculoskeletal Pain

Treating Musculoskeletal Pain: Curent Treatment Options
Topical NSAIDs are often overlooked as treatment options because of the perception that they are ineffective, despite achieving regulatory approval and evidence of efficacy. CAFP master faculty Kate Galluzzi, DO and M. Susan Burke, MD have outlined the diagnosis and treatment options available to primary care physicians in this online, case and evidence-based activity. The session is hosted on the CECity CME Library - a site with more than 10,000 CME activities for physicians and their care team members.

Depression  The Primary Care Challenge: Is Depression Over Diagnosed? A Case-Based Approach

These two multimedia presentations discuss the challenges physicians face with the diagnosis of depression in their patients. Some physicians believe it is normal to feel depressed and that a low threshold for diagnosing clinical depression risks treating normal emotional states as illness, challenging credibility and risking inappropriate management. Others think it is appropriate for the wider community to ask if the benefit of increased treatment of depression over the past 15 years has outweighed any harm, but argue that increased treatment of depression reduces suicides, increases productivity, and is cost effective.

Online Multimedia Presentation: Is Depression Over Diagnosed? The Primary Care Challenge
