Battle of the Residents

Riverside Family Medicine Residency Program Wins 2nd Annual Battle of the Residents
Led by emcee, part-time comedian and CAFP staffer Adam Francis, six teams of family medicine residents competed in CAFP's 2nd Annual Battle of the Residents. Teams were comprised of two to five players, each representing a different California family medicine residency program.
With the help of judges CAFP Immediate Past President Carla Kakutani, MD, CAFP President-elect Tom Bent, MD, and San Diego chapter boardmember Dave Bazzo, MD, the teams made it through three challenging rounds of a Jeopardy!-style game. The Battle took place after the President’s Reception, which served as a pre-game party for the event. Three new teams competed this year and look out for some surprises as we plan next year’s event.
The Battle of the Residents was designed to give California family medicine residents an opportunity to come together and participate in a competition with friends and peers while testing their family medicine knowledge as well as their local state advocacy awareness. While the Riverside FMRP victory could have been considered a landslide, all teams were enthusiastic competitors. Each team member was awarded a $75 gift certificate to Amazon.com, and iPod Shuffle, and iPod gift card.
Thank you to all those who participated in the event. Get your teams ready for the 2009 Battle of the Residents!
