Annual Scientific Assembly

Thank you to those who attended our 2008 Annual Scientific Assembly in San Francisco! Please take a few minutes to fill out our online evaluation and give us your feedback. After you finish the evaluation, a pop up screen will appear with your CME certificate which you can print out (or, if you want to save paper, PDF it!) and keep for your records.

CME Reporting
To report your CME credits online, go to www.aafp.org/cme and enter your member ID number.

This activity has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 24.75 Prescribed credits by the AAFP. Of these, 11.75 conform to the AAFP criteria for evidence-based CME (EB-CME) clinical content. CME credit has been increased to reflect 2:1 credit for only the EB-CME portion. When reporting AAFP credit, report total Prescribed and Elective credit for this activity. It is not necessary to label credit as evidence-based CME for reporting purposes. Please note: the MenoPAUSE Face-to-Face session has also been approved for EB-CME, adding another 2 credits to the total.

CAFP is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians. CAFP designates this course for 13.25 AMA PRA Category 1 credits TM.

Download Lecture Slides and Handouts
PDF versions of the lecture slides and handouts are available on this site. Click on "Clinical Sessions" at left to download slides and handouts from individual lectures featured on the main stage. Click on "Workshops" to download slides and handouts from the three workshops.

Outcomes Evaluation
Two brand new and exciting elements of Family Medicine's Clinical Roadmap are the presentation of the sessions at other state AFP chapter meetings and the extensive evaluation/outcomes process. CAFP is partnering with Outcomes, Inc. to ensure systematic, sophisticated and measurable outcomes. We will use a combination of pre-, immediate-post, and 6-9 weeks post-event evaluation mechanisms to ascertain change in knowledge and application to practice. Because the clinical sessions will be presented in five venues, we will have individual and combined evaluation data.

SAVE THE DATE!

61st Annual Scientific Assembly
April 18-19, 2009
San Francisco Marriott

Family physicians are facing complex and pressing issues. You need to exhibit clinical excellence in your practice, successfully meet the American Board of Family Medicine's (ABFM) new Maintenance of Certification (MC-FP) requirements, re-design your practice to integrate technology and chronic care management, demonstrate tangible patient improvement, and do all this under an extremely stressful payment system.

In 2009, CAFP's Scientific Assembly will marry clinical CME content to the clinical and practice requirements set forth by the ABFM. Just like in '08, the clinical sessions will be presented in a variety of formats; each will be based on evidence-based practice recommendations and include case-based learning. Sessions will be presented with patient video cases, in a conversation style with two faculty members, or with an audience response system. Faculty members will be selected from a pool of your favorite presenters.
