Emergency Medi-Cal Loan Program

Emergency Medi-Cal Loan Program
The CAFP fully realizes the difficult circumstances family physicians and their offices may encounter as a result of the State Budget impasse and the resulting halt to Medi-Cal payments and/or a 10 percent cut to payments. The Academy Board of Directors has approved an emergency measure to assist members with small, short-term, low interest/loan fee loans to be used for office overhead/operations. The loans are only a stop-gap, and not meant to completely support a practice during this tough time. They will be made on a one-time only basis, and only one will be made per member.
Loan Criteria and Details
To apply for a loan, you must meet these criteria and complete the following documents:
- Active CAFP member
- More than 33 percent Medi-Cal patients in your practice

- Signed promissory agreement
Emergency Medi-Cal Loans

- Loan payable in entirety by January 31, 2009 unless by prior arrangement, approval is given for an extension of 3-6 months.
* In order to meet minimum Federal tax requirements, and ensure an arm's length agreement (avoiding inurement to members), CAFP must charge 3 percent interest/loan fee. The interest for a $10,000 loan will be $300. This amount will not be pro-rated for early repayment.
