Our country is facing an epidemic of largely preventable chronic diseases. A first step in addressing the crisis is to establish ongoing healing relationships between patients and physicians, with a focus on the whole patient. This means providing much-needed primary and preventive care. It also means designing access to that care in a way that meets patient needs.
