Leonard Fromer, MD, is a past president of the California Academy of Family Physicians. He currently serves as a delegate to the AAFP Congress of Delegates and is running for a seat on the AAFP Board of Directors. He is also the convening chair of the Medical Leadership Council on Cultural Proficiency. This partnership between 37 key stakeholders of medical and health care organizations is focused on eliminating barriers to health care caused by limited English proficiency (LEP). Dr. Fromer talks about the challenges facing family physicians in dealing with LEP, as well as tools available to assist with these challenges.
