Every day must:
Coffee, exercise and see my son (Not in that order!)

Most missed:
My son when I'm on call.

What do you love about practicing family medicine?
I love the variety of my patients and the the broad spectrum of care that we provide. Delivering a baby, treating diabetes and counselling family of an elderly patient. Never a dull moment, most appropriately handled by a family doctor!

I champion family medicine by:
Practicing full-spectrum family medicine, working side by side with my consulting specialist colleagues at all times of day and night. Promoting health and well-being through support and education in a family centered physician directed medical home.

Best lesson(s) learned in residency:
1) RESPECT - respect for our patients, one another, and ourselves. 2) Successful outcomes for our patients are built on a team effort. 3) Being inclusive. It is our patients, their families, our colleagues and our families that make what we do not only possible but rewarding and enjoyable.

I wanted to be a doctor when:
When I was in high-school, my mother who was uninsured, successfully worked full-time while she battled a rare form of cancer. I unequivocally knew that I would be a doctor once I was told by my advisor "you want to go to medical school? I'll believe it when I see it."

Currently reading:
The Last Lecture, about a young college professor dying of pancreatic cancer and how he decided to live, rather than die.

Favorite summer getaway:
Any beach or mountain cabin with sun, swimming, family and games. Most importantly, no television, internet, telephone, pager or any other wired (or wireless) apparatus!

If I wasn’t a family physician, I would like to be a(n):
Unfortunately all other career hopes have been shot down, as I'm too old for American Idol! However I would of loved to be an academian, teaching young family physicians and medical students how to be compassionate beyond our world of "evidence-based medicine"!
