October 3, 2009

The one-day event brought in more than 60 medical students.  Panelists and special guests explored the theme "Social Justice and Practice" while engaging the students in a discovery of the family medicine specialty.  Attendees had the opportunity to interact with California family medicine residency Programs, gain valuable skills in hands-on procedures, receive inspiration to become involved in their communities, and  have their most common questions answered on applying to and interviewing with residency programs.

Attending spouses

My wife is a Physician in the Philippines, having graduated from University of Santo Tomas (UST), and is a practicing Fellow in OB/GYN. I'm hoping by bringing her with me to this event, she can gain some insight as to how our Medical School system works in allowing Medical Students to interact and network with fellow students as well as Residents from various departments and hospitals. I also hope this will help to motivate her to take her USMLE Steps and begin the Residency program after completing requirements of the ECFMG.
