CAFP Meets With Schwarzenegger Health Plan Staff
Following the CMA House of Delegates (in which CAFP sponsored three successful resolutions) CAFP President Bo Greaves and Legislative Advocate Tom Riley met with Senior Health Care Advisor Herb Schultz for more than 90 minutes in the office of First Lady Maria Shriver to discuss the importance of primary care, and in particular family physicians, for the success of the governor’s universal health plan, currently under development. Dr. Greaves emphasized the importance of primary and preventive care in addressing the state’s growing epidemic of chronic illness. The governor’s staff has asked CAFP to assemble a group of CAFP members from a wide range of practice modes to provide input and “on the ground” insight into the governor’s plan.
