CAFP is working to support payment for primary care services in health care reform legislation heard last week in the Senate Health Committee. Following a letter sent to legislative leadership in the Capitol, CAFP held a conference call of the more than 15 signatories of that letter to develop language that supports access to primary and preventive care to ensure that every newly insured person has access to a primary care, patient-centered medical home. CAFP provided testimony before the Senate Health Committee last Wednesday urging the Committee and the bill’s authors to accept amendments that would ensure that primary and preventive care services (not just catastrophic, high deductible benefits) are included in health care reform benefits and to ensure fair payment for those services.
