State Budget Resource Center

This page is your one-stop-shop, with everything you need to help advocate for your practice and your patients, from details about the State budget, to "how to" documents that walk you through the different ways you can make a difference.

The Governor's plan would cut at least $2.9 billion from health and human services programs. The next few months will be critical in CAFP's advocacy efforts, and the Academy will again mount a strong defense to attempt to protect vital programs that affect family physicians and their patients.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Your Legislators need to hear from you that the pain of balancing the State budget should not be felt disproportionately by those who need services the most. We are calling on legislators to increase revenues to balance the State's budget deficit instead of cutting programs for children and adults living in poverty that keep people healthy and keep health care costs down.

How YOU Can Get Involved and Make a Difference

The state Assembly and Senate will be holding committee hearings over the next couple weeks in response to the Governor's proposal where they will be making crucial decisions on the budget. It is important that you act NOW to make sure your legislators know the effect these cuts will have on your patients. After you read the "Budget Proposals and Details" section at the bottom of this page, use these easy "how to" guides to help your advocacy efforts. As always, if you have any questions, please contact us at the Academy and we will help in any way we can: 415-345-8667 or email cafp@familydocs.org.
