Committee on Continuing Professional Development
1. CME Accreditation
Review 102 CME request forms to ensure that the proposed activity meets the CAFP and AAFP standards for Prescribed Credit; evaluate proposed educational activities for assignment of Category 1 credit; ensure adherence to the CME standards set by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education; review the overall CPD program of the CAFP; work with other committees concerned with educational programming.
2. Program Development
Develop and implement a comprehensive program of socioeconomic and scientific educational offerings for CAFP members outside the annual scientific assembly based on market assessment and member needs. Expand presentations and activities with FP components, including, but not limited to, grand rounds, hospital lectures, local chapter CME programming, managed care education and academic institution offerings. Consider member constituencies, regional and local chapter opportunities, FPs' sense of self-esteem, and their role in health care delivery. Assure such programs are at least self-supporting and ideally income-generating.
