Resident Membership
Become a Member Today!
Make a great move in your career by becoming a resident member of an organization dedicated to the development of family physicians. Membership with CAFP and AAFP is invaluable - it not only gives you access to services and tools that will assist your personal and professional development, it also contributes to the overall strength of family medicine as a specialty.
Here are some of the many member benefits we offer for residents:
New Family Physician Toolkit
The transition from residency to practice can be daunting, so CAFP has created a toolkit to help lead you through the process. Included in this toolkit is a series of articles, “how-tos,” and worksheets such as:
- Interview Questions Every Family Physician Should Ask
- How to Rate a Potential Practice Site
- Basic Financial Management for New Family Physicians
Promotion of the Specialty
Your CAFP membership helps to advocate for the family medicine specialty in Sacramento and at the table of organized medicine, as well as assisting with scope of practice and privileging concerns. Our legislative advocacy campaigns continue to keep family physicians as a leading voice in the access to care battle.

Leadership Opportunities
CAFP offers leadership training through opportunities on a wide range of committees, as well as our Board of Directors. CAFP provides opportunities for resident leaders to coordinate statewide activities for their fellow family medicine residents. The Residents of the California Academy of Family Physicians (R-CAFP) leaders are advocates for residency issues to AAFP’s National Congress of Family Medicine Residents, CAFP’s Congress of Delegates, Board of Directors, and the Medical Student and Resident Affairs Committee.
