Any licensed California physicians engaging in the practice of family medicine, resident, medical student, physician in another specialty or actively engaged in the practice or teaching of FM. The Academy requires active (practicing physician) members complete 150 hours of continuing education every three years.

Active: $265 + AAFP and local county dues, if applicable, annually.
Supporting: $245 + AAFP and local county dues, if applicable, annually.
Resident: $10 + AAFP dues, annually. CAFP subsidizes membership dues for all first-year residents.
Student: AAFP and CAFP membership is complimentary; no dues are assessed for the duration of medical school.
Yes, membership dues are tax deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense. However, please note that 25 percent of your 2011 CAFP membership dues payment is not deductible as a business expense because it is allocable to lobbying activities of the organization. Check with your accountant or tax advisor for detailed information.
AAFP accepts payment by check or Visa, Mastercard, American Express credit cards. There are three options available to members to submit dues payments. You can remit a lump-sum payment, or set up an automatic renewal and/or monthly payment plan with a credit card. AAFP will break up the dues into however many payments are left from the sign-up date until August 10th. The member's card will be charged on the 10th of each month for each payment.

Unfortunately, we do not offer discounted dues for members not in practice. There are dues reductions or waivers for members who are having financial hardships. Please contact Membership Manager Sophia Henry at shenry@familydocs.org for more details.
No, we are a unified association, and you must also belong to AAFP and your local county chapter to be a member of CAFP. We believe the key to CAFP's strength is its excellent collaborative relationships with AAFP and our component county chapters.
CAFP offers two membership categories for retired physicians - Life and Inactive memberships. Life membership is for those who have continuous membership for a minimum of 20 years AND are either completely retired from the practice of medicine or are age 70 or over. Retired physician members who have not retained membership for 20 years may choose to change their membership status to Inactive. Please contact CAFP for more information, and to see if you are eligible for Life or Inactive status.
Report CME credits online through the AAFP CME Center. You can also view and print out your comprehensive CME report from this site.
CME credits can also be reported by faxing a completed CME reporting form to 913-906-6075 or calling the AAFP Contact Center at 800-274-2237 between 8:30 am and 5 pm Central Time.
Active and Supporting members must accrue and report a minimum of 150 credits of approved CME within each three-year re-election term. At least 75 of the 150 credits must be AAFP prescribed credit.
